Applications for free and reduced-price school meals are available now for the 2025-2026 school year. The application and instructions may be found online through the Comal ISD website, SchoolCafe family hub and through a new tile on Skyward in Family Access. Students must qualify for free and reduced-price school meals annually.

Comal ISD is hosting two student immunization clinics on Tuesday, Aug. 12. They will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at Canyon Middle School and 2-5 p.m. at Bill Brown Elementary School.

Sip, shop and do good 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Kendra Scott La Cantera when 20 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Comal Education Foundation. Be sure to mention the Foundation when shopping either online or in the store during the back-to-school event.

Comal ISD has hired a Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Larry Guerra brings almost 20 years of experience in public education, specifically in financial management and strategic financial planning.

A backpack and school supply drive is underway through July 28 to help elementary students in Kerrville ISD who were affected by the recent flooding. Drop off donations between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday-Thursday at the Comal ISD Support Services building, 1404 IH-35 North in New Braunfels. Every donation helps.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Comal ISD music program has received the Best Communities for Music Education designation for its outstanding support and commitment to music education.

The Canyon High School lacrosse team made district and school history this season after advancing to the state championship title game in the Texas High School Lacrosse League, placing second.

The Comal ISD Board of Trustees approved the district's 2025-2026 budget which included a three percent pay increase for teachers who do not qualify for the House Bill 2 allotment and all other staff members.

The Smithson Valley Rangers Baseball team led fans on a historic ride to the school's first state championship, ending the season as the 2025 UIL State 5A Division 1 Runner Up.

This year, 63 recent Comal ISD graduates have chosen a career in the military, with 51 enlistments, three ROTC scholarships and nine military academy appointments.
