Annually, students are nominated to attend the American Legion Texas Boys State and American Legion Auxiliary Texas Girls State leadership programs to learn what it takes to run a city, county and state government. This year, 25 students represented Comal ISD in these programs.
A planning committee, called Comal Forward, met for the first time this school year to discuss the challenges and opportunities that Comal ISD faces as it continues to grow on average 1,600 students a year.
Once more, Comal ISD is among the best of the best in the state of Texas when it comes to art education. The district just earned its fourth TAEA District of Distinction Award for its well-rounded education that advocates and integrates visual arts curriculum in the classroom, in the community and beyond.
Annually, students from across the state participate in weeklong, overnight camps, to learn about Texas in the Education in Action's summer Lone Star Leadership Academy camps. This year, Comal ISD, had seven student representatives at these camps.
Comal ISD is excited to celebrate 10 years of sponsoring district-wide chess tournaments for students of all ages and skill levels. This year's champions will go head-to-head in an invitation-only Tournament of Champions in May. Let the games begin!
This summer, a Comal ISD aviation student took one step closer to fulfilling her dream of becoming an astronaut by completing the Aim High Flight Academy and earning 15 hours towards her pilot's license.
This school year, parents and students have two options when it comes to paying for school meals. The district created a graphic to provide a little guidance when it comes to these options which includes applying for free and reduced meals and using the Lunch Money Now account.
This year, Comal ISD's annual September Going Gold Campaign in recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, kicks off with the sale of its first "Go Gold" t-shirt in partnership with the Seth Strong Foundation.
