Letter from Mr. Kim:

I know it’s the Christmas break, but because I know that scheduling is important to you, I want to let you know that we are adjusting our 2020-21 academic calendar by making Jan. 15 a day off for students. This day is to give our teachers time for planning and adjusting associated with the new grading period before the long MLK Holiday weekend. Because we banked four additional days by adjusting our start and end times, we can take this day off and maintain May 27 as the last day of school.

In the past when we have made these adjustments to our calendar, it seems that rumors start circulating on social media that this is the first step towards a shutdown and a return to 100% remote learning. I want to emphasize that this is not the case. I know that if there is one thing that we all desire, it is to keep our schools open. Our goal is to have as many continuous days of school as possible when we return for the second semester on Jan. 5.

So as you enjoy this holiday season, I encourage you to continue to attend to your family’s health by maintaining good health and safety habits, and by fully participating in our health and safety measures when we return in the new year. Until then, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
