May 19, 2022 - The Comal Education Foundation surprised 10 Comal ISD staff members with grants totaling more than $23,000 during its Spring Prize Patrol this March. This financial support will directly benefit students with innovative programs in art, music, reading, science, technology and more.
Additionally, 20 teachers who are in their first year of teaching were awarded $250 New Teacher Grants from the Foundation to help build their classrooms.
In the last 21 years, the Foundation has awarded more than $1 million in funding to support the district’s students and teachers.
Spring Grant Winners
- Leslie Schoech, Indian Springs Elementary. Innovation grant for $2,601 for Science of Reading.
- Natalie Austin and Jennifer Simmons, Canyon High School. Innovation grant for $1,446 for Wellness Wednesdays.
- Brittany Fenrich, Memorial Early College High School. Innovation grant for $3,984 for collaborative learning tables.
- Micah Montgomery, Memorial Early College High School. Innovation grant for $900 for Nine Square in the Air.
- Tina Flores, Indian Springs Elementary. Innovation grant for $7,295 for All Aboard: Full STEAM Ahead.
- Benjamin Lagueux, Smithson Valley High School. Innovation grant for $1,489 for Turn up the Radio.
- Holly Anthony, Spring Branch Middle School. Expertise grant for $850 for American Sign Language.
- Ashlee Ward, Smithson Valley High School. Expertise grants for $383 to attend the LIVE2LEAD Conference.
- Hannah Schramm, Support Services. Expertise grant for $5,000 for Comal U.
