Canyon Lake HS One-Act Play Wins 2nd Place at State

May 5, 2023 - Canyon Lake High School has the second best one-act play production in the state with its 24-member company competing for the second year in a row at the State 4A UIL contest on Thursday, May 4.

In addition to being the first runner up to the state champion, members of the CLHS company, which presented “The Cripple of Inishmaan” by Martin McDonagh, received state-level individual awards for their performance.

These honors include Best Performer by Becker Russell; All-Star Cast for Danielle Schlomach; and Honorable Mention All-Star Cast for Maddox Kennedy.

The CLHS production is under the direction of Benjamin Matthews and Jamie Kennedy. Members of the company include the following students: Isis Almanza, Star Beare, Ryleigh Borg, Kylie Bottorff, Cayla Davidson, Julianna Fernandez, Lily Gray, Roman Hernandez, Maddox Kennedy, Micah Lee, Diane Leija, Jana Lister, Jordyn Martin, Becker Russell, Danielle Schlomach, Savannah Slegers, Ellie Smith, Seth Taylor, Nathan Theobald, Jason Torres, Emily Ward, Evelyn Van Houten, Bo Williamson and Dylan Wistrand.
