April 17, 2025 - Hill Country College Preparatory High School Valedictorian Sara Ziegler gives us an inside look into her high school experience in a graduation Q+A.
How did you find out you were Valedictorian?
I was pulled out of class along with the other top 5 students for a meeting where we were told our rankings. It was a relief to know that I was the official Valedictorian, now I can slack off a little bit and enjoy the rest of my senior year without stress!
Can you share what your speech is going to be about?
My speech will mostly be about the community at Hill Country, because our grade is so small. I want to reflect on everyone I have met during my time here and how we all made it through together, because it has been challenging and I am very proud of us all.
Describe the entirety of your high school experience in one word.
Developmental.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?
Telekinesis because it’s just cool! It would be fun to manipulate stuff with my mind.
What's your favorite way to relax?
It depends on what kind of mood I am in. I like to crochet, weave, and spend time with my friends, but if I just finished a difficult task I usually like to wind down in my bed and do nothing.
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be?
Initially I didn’t have anyone in mind, but I would probably have dinner with Jane Austen! I enjoy her books and I liked the Pride and Prejudice movie, so I think spending time with her would be cool. We would have a tea session with books and gossip.
Who would you say is your biggest supporter? Why?
My parents as well as my close friend. They have always been there to support me, encourage me, and help me with whatever I needed.
If your high school experience was a movie/song, what movie/song would it be?
“Notion” by The Rare Occasions because of its nostalgic vibes. I feel like it is a good backdrop to represent my high school experience.
What are your plans after graduation?
I will be attending the University of Texas at Austin and majoring in Biology with the intention of pursuing physical therapy. I am interested in joining a recreational team on campus, maybe volleyball, as a way to get involved!
What's a piece of advice you'd give your younger self?
Put your phone down.
